Like everywhere else, Singapore has been hit hard by the global pandemic. Companies of all sizes face challenges they never had to think about before. And while most businesses look internally to figure out how to weather the storm, we got some companies to turn to the most unlikely source of help—each other.
Together with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, we created the Sweden-Singapore Initiative — SESG — and brought together some of Sweden’s most notable brands and paired them with the most unusual of partners; Singapore’s small businesses. From an iconic chicken rice stall to even a decades-old tailor, these household brands represented the quintessential Singapore spirt—small yet determined.
The initiative includes The Advocate, where the small businesses were given an opportunity of a lifetime to appear on billboards all over Singapore, fully sponsored by the Swedish companies. Other pillars include Fika4Good, where executives from the two companies meet up to exchange expertise. The last pillar, The Swedish Gig, ties up with a government agency to help people who have to make a mid-career switch due to the pandemic.
